Tunu is a Kenyan fashionista extraordinaire. She knows a thing or all about the fashion world. She is so passionate about fashion such that she makes sure she stocks up her SHOP with the latest worldwide chic trends. She knows what’s IN when it’s still too hot and flying off the stores shelves and she never minds sharing. All this is evident from her closet which will  be featured on Capital Lifestyle every week as she gives you tips on how to rock some of these fashionable on trend pieces!

This week, here’s what she has to say about some of the trends that are all the rage this year.

TRIBAL PRINT JACKET

Tribal trend is a modern approach to Africa. And being a Kenyan, I’m very much familiar with the tribal print from the Maasai culture. But from those of you who aren’t, the Tribal trend consists of strong graphic prints with dark hues and warm earthy tones.

PEPLUM DRESS + some animal print

Leopard print has always been in vogue. Lol Throughout history, Leopard skin was considered a symbol of bravery and status for the kings and other high people have used it as a sign of wealth and status.

As much as its not the real leopard skin, it miraculously still has the same effect. Add a touch of leopard print accessories in your outfit for an elegant impression.

SAFE MIX PRINT

I’ve been trying to let loose and try something a little crazy. This new fashion combination that shouldn’t work but would do.

Playing it on the safe side, I picked two best bold prints of this season i.e scarf print and tribal print.

Most people fear mixing print, I agree it can be very confusing even to look at and you have to be very careful to work this trend. Although the best combos are ones that seem unlikely to match!

CROPPED DENIM JACKET

The great thing about today’s fashion is that anything goes as long as it suits you and you are comfortable in it. Denim Jackets are all right again,they have recently made a return into the forefront of fashion. Especially the cropped ones, they are a must have!

So which trend is a MUST try for you? The tribal jacket, the peplum + some animal print, the safe mix print or the cropped denim jacket look?

THE PEPLUM SKIRT

Peplums have been in for a while now. They are so feminine and stylish and they always give you a neat look. Tunu pairs her peplum skirt with another on trend item..a floral blouse. She has accessorized her skirt with a cute skinny belt.

THE POLKA DOTS

Polka dots are cute!They almost remind you of Minnie Mouse. Tunu has decided to go nautical and what better way to do pull this off with white polka dots. The white pants help pull everything together and do you notice the nautical influenced accessories.

THE SCARF PRINT

The scarf print is right in vogue! As much as the scarf print is not for everyone and certainly not for the faint-hearted Tunu manages to rock the scarf print pants ever so stylishly. Notice how she has picked a color from the pants to be the prominent color of her accessories.

So which is your favorite trend here? The peplum , the polka dots or the scarf print?

1*PASTELS + THE CLUTCH

In this first look, Tunu was attending a baby shower. Don’t you  just love how she plays with the pastel  colors and do you notice the colorful clutch?

2**PASTELS +THE SCARF PRINT BLAZER

The whole outfit looks smashing as Tunu adds that little unsuspected something… In this case, the scarf print blazer which surprisingly blends with the outfit. Notice how the pastel block theme she’s on about goes all the way to her accessories.

3***PASTELS + NEON HEELS

Of course you can see the corals and pastels vibe going on here. She however gives the whole look a little surprise by adding the luminous heels *which we absolutely love*

4****PASTELS + THE FLORAL SKIRT

Here Tunu color blocks her pastel colored top and footwear with a pretty floral skirt. Notice the colors feature at least somewhere in her other pieces.That’s the trick right there, to NOT looking too busy even while you have a number of colors going on all over!

So which is your favorite look here? 1, 2, 3 or 4?

It is clear that this chain print is a bold one hence Tunu tones it down with neutral colors so that her outfit doesn’t look busy. She nails the look anyway, whether with the jacket, tucked in/ untucked shirt. Would you wear it?

Florals are in and they are Cute! Tunu pulls off the floral dress look so well as she gets her girlie side on! Check out how she matches her colors plus her floral print is mild so it doesn’t take away attention from her other accessories.

Palazzo Pants also known as a Q-lot
These wide-leg pants are retro fab and Tunu suggests that since these palazzo pants keep going in and out of fashion, they might just be a good future investment.
They are comfy and a perfect way to take a break from skinny jeans.

Tunu says that these are best worn with tight fitting tops since they are wide at the bottom but if you prefer you can tuck in your shirt or layer on a jacket for a formal look.
